Parking & Permits

Cars parked in the school parking lot must display the current school parking decal and be parked in an authorized area.  Failure to have a parking permit will result in disciplinary action.   Special permission to leave early must be cleared through the Deans’ Office.

The student parking lot is provided for students to park their vehicles.  It is not a place to loiter.  Once a student has arrived in the parking lot, in a reasonable period of time he is to gather his belongings and immediately enter the school building.  At the end of the school day, a student is to enter his car and leave the school grounds in the same reasonable period of time with no loitering in or around the parking lot.  The term “reasonable” will be interpreted by school officials assigned to the parking lot.

So that all students can be made aware of the rules and regulations regarding parking, below is a reprint of the student parking agreement.

If you are a selected senior in the parking lottery or have preferred parking status, the following rules must be followed:

1.   You must be a licensed driver and a member of the Senior Class to obtain a permit.

2.   The cost of a parking permit will be $150.00.  Of this fee, $25.00 from each permit will be deposited in the Senior Class treasury to be used for prom and other class purposes.  In cases of financial hardship, students should consult the Activity Director or the Director of Deans.

3.   A mailing will be sent in the early summer to each member of the Senior Class.  All procedures outlined in the mailing must be followed to qualify for the July parking lottery.  For those who win a parking permit sticker in the lottery, parking permits will be available at Book Month in August.  For those not selected, the check will be returned at Book Month and the individual put on a waiting list.

NOTE:   There is no rotation of stickers; one car MUST be selected as the one you will be driving.  Only one sticker per family will be given out.

4.   Stickers must be permanently affixed to the lower left driver’s side of the windshield.

5.   Permits are non-transferable and must be used only by the person to whom it has been issued.  If a senior sells or gives away his/her parking permit, his/her parking privileges will be revoked.  Underclassmen in possession of a senior permit will forfeit their ability to obtain a permit during their senior year.  You are not allowed to loan your car to other students to leave campus.

6.   There are no reserved spots, parking is on a first come, first serve basis.
NOTE:  Unauthorized or illegally parked vehicles will be subject to disciplinary action and/or towing.

7.   Permission to leave the parking lot during the day must be obtained through the Deans’ office as per the Student Handbook.  Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your parking permit (refer to LEAVING/ENTERING).

8.   If your car needs to be repaired, arrangements must be made in advance with security personnel for a temporary permit.

9.   Stickers will be replaced only if the car is stolen or destroyed.  If the car is sold or returned for use by another family member, remove the old sticker and bring it in for a new one.  You must turn in your old sticker to receive a replacement

10.  If a sticker is lost or stolen, one replacement will be issued for $50.00.
Only one (1) replacement is offered per student.

11.  Stickers may be denied to students who have prior parking violations.

12.  Hinsdale Central High School is not responsible for any loss, theft, or
damage that takes place in the school parking lots.

13.  In order to maximize the parking lot’s capacity as well as to improve
safety, cars must be parked inside of the lines indicating a parking slot.

14.  There is no loitering permitted in any of the school’s parking lots.

15.  Discourteous, reckless, or unsafe operation of a motor vehicle in the
 student lot is prohibited.

16.  Possession of or any participation in the making of a counterfeit parking permit will result in automatic revocation of parking privileges and disciplinary action.
