Appeals Process The Deans administer consequences for inappropriate behavior according to administrative procedures and guidelines by always affording due process to the student. The student and/or parents have the right to request the reason(s) for any consequence(s) assigned to them as a result of a disciplinary action. The level of consequences is a matter of school policy and is not subject to the appeals process. If a suspension from school has been issued and the student feels that she/he is innocent of the charge(s), then the first step of the appeals process is to: 1. Contact the Director of Deans, Mr. W. Michael Leverence. Subsequent to this contact, if the student still feels that she/he is innocent of the charge(s) which resulted in suspension, the second and final step is to contact the Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Kevin Pobst. 2. The parent writes a letter requesting a due process appeals regarding the alleged infraction to:
Mr.
Kevin Pobst 3. Mr. Kevin Pobst informs the party of the date and time of the hearing. 4. Testimony is heard by a Board appointed hearing officer from both the student and/or representative(s) and/or legal counsel and from school administration. 5. The hearing officer informs Superintendent Dr. Nicholas Wahl of his findings. 6. Superintendent Wahl communicates his recommendation(s) to the student and parents. |
