Transitional Program of Instruction

Mission Statement
The mission of The Transitional Program of Instruction (TPI) is to assist international students who have limited English skills. The TPI program provides academic and social support as students adjust to the American culture and, in particular, to Hinsdale Central High School. TPI will assist them in transitioning into the mainstream of the school community.

In order to fulfill its mission, TPI offers academic classes in English as a Second Language (ESL I & II) and TPI resource classes. TPI also addresses individual student needs, including language issues, academic programs, and cultural, social adjustments. English as a Second Language classes are taught in conjunction with the English Department in order to transition students into the mainstream English classes. As students adjust academically and socially, they transition with support into the full general education curriculum and the school community. Lastly, students exit the program when they are academically successful!
