As Athletic Director at Hinsdale Central High School, I welcome you and invite your participation in one or more of the thirty-one programs offered.
The ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT HINSDALE CENTRAL is made available to all students. It is an optional program in which students choose to participate. In choosing to participate, however, students should carefully evaluate their desires and ambitions and decide if they are willing to make sacrifices necessary for successful participation during their years in high school.
ATHLETES MUST BE WILLING to devote time and energy to make the type of contribution to the athletic program that is expected at Hinsdale Central. The general public, parents, school administrators and the coaching staff demand a great deal of the high school athletes. Student athletes must maintain creditable grade averages, participate vigorously in the competitive program and at the same time maintain standards of good school citizenship. This is not easy. It demands high standards of performance at all times from those who want to represent our school.
WINNING IS IMPORTANT, however, it is not an end in itself. It must be remembered that success is measured in many different ways. What is more important is the loyalty, dedication and commitment exhibited by the team members.
TO BE AN ATHLETE OF THIS TYPE IS NOT EASY! It requires dedication and work. Only through this type of devotion can the athlete realize full potential as a student and as an individual. This is the type of person that we encourage to be part of the traditionally respected athletic program at Hinsdale Central High School. Should you desire additional information in regards to the athletic program, please contact the Athletic Office.
We are proud to be a member of the WEST SUBURBAN CONFERENCE and through the 2007-2008 school year led all Conference schools in Varsity Championships with 330 (at the time of printing, May 21, 2008). We also are a member of the Illinois High School Association competing with other member schools for state recognition. At the current time Hinsdale Central has 70 State titles. Six other conference schools rank in the top ten in total State Championships, which confirms the competitive level of the West Suburban Conference. I hope you will join the young people who have chosen athletics as a co-curricular activity at HCHS and who have contributed to this most enviable record.
