Jim McGuire joined the Hinsdale Central Guidance Department in 2009.  Prior to coming to Central, he was a counselor at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook (6 years) and Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake (1 year).  Additionally, Jim’s background includes college admission and financial aid counseling at a private, liberal arts college.  While working with students through the post-secondary process, he draws heavily from his experiences on both sides of the college admission process.  He is a member of National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC).  Jim also has experience working with adolescents and adults in a mental health setting.

Jim’s academic background includes a B.A. from Hanover College where he majored in psychology and a M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis in mental health and school counseling from Indiana University.
