 Achieve Program

The Achieve Program provides students with extra support throughout their day at Hinsdale Central. There are a variety of supports available. Please contact your Guidance Counselor to discuss how to best support your student.

Excel 1 & Excel 2

Excel Study Hall is an academic guided class where students meet in a supportive environment to receive assistance. The Excel Study Hall staff members consult with classroom teachers and parents to help improve each student‘s achievement in courses. Student support in the areas of executive function skills and homework completion will be available. Students assigned to the Excel Study Hall will attend every day during their scheduled period and will continue to receive these services until all grades earned are at a C level or above for two consecutive quarters at which point they can transfer into a regular study hall. A 0.25 credit is earned per semester for successful participation in this program. Excel 1 is for freshman. Excel 2 is for sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Excel Skills

Similar to Excel 1 & 2, Excel Skills is available for students who need additional assistance in English or Social Students. Students receive the same support they would in Excel 1 or Excel 2 but, also, have direct instruction from a content teacher who can help them with specific assignments.

Math Excel

Math Excel is designed to support students enrolled by providing them additional instruction, individualized practice, and support during the school day. In this small guided study hall led by an Excel teacher and a math teacher, students will have time and support to complete their mathematics homework in addition to other coursework. Math Excel is a semester course and students will earn a quarter of a credit towards graduation for each semester they are enrolled on a pass/fail basis. Students are encouraged to enroll in both semesters. Math Excel is available as a support for Algebra, Geometry and Algebra 2 Trigonometry. Contact your math teacher for more information about this program.

Achieve Science

Achieve Science is available for students needing additional help in Science. Course offerings alternate each year between Biology and Earth Science. The course is taught by a Science teacher and Excel teacher. Students enroll for the whole year and earn credit toward graduation.
